RONALD BOCKIUS

Chief curator and director of the prehistory department of the Rômisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum Mainz, a research institution in the field of pre- and proto-historical archaeology, classical and Byzantine studies, restoration, archaeology and museums, including the Museum of ancient navigation. He has also been responsible for shipbuilding, shipping and naval history for more than 25 years. His interest is focused on the problems of the transfer of wood technology to the supracontinental and chronological scale (Prehistory, Antiquity, Old World), shipbuilding and Mediterranean navigation and the center and north of Europe, the analysis of the characteristics of the vessels, their typology and marine performance.
